Sundance Premiere: ‘Assassination of a High School President’

Assassination of a High School President

We saw four movies at Sundance in the last twenty-four hours, spanning a wide range of genres. But my favorite far and away was Assassination of a High School President. Mixing Bogart-ish voiceover with Heathers nasty streak makes for the best film I saw at Redford’s movie party in Park City.

Reese Thompson plays the newspaper geek hero and he’s hilarious as he chases down the truth around the school campus.

There’s still a bit of editing to do before the film reaches broad theatrical release. I hope it doesn’t cost too many of the venomous lines that had the audience doubled over in laughter. If the final version can stay true to this cut it will be a film you shouldn’t miss.
